We Are a Strange Breed

Filed under: Uncategorized — antitango @ 6:31 pm

I saw this poem posted to an online forum and held onto it.  I am reproducing it here with the permission of the author who requests that it be posted without his name.  I am a former US Marine who proudly served and was honorably discharged after 7 years of service.  I am very patriotic and proud of the country that I was born in and live in.  I like seeing others who are undoubtedly the same in that regard.  Saying that, I present to you, ‘Strange Breed.’

We are a strangebreed
We respect Courage, Honor, Commitment, and Each other.
We are tough and thrive on adversity and challenge.
Yet tears fill our eyes,
When we see the Stars & Stripes,
Read names on a wall,
Or hear the Marine Hymn.
We would rather die than be unfaithful.
Semper Fi is embedded in our souls.
Our brotherhood is forever.
We are Marines.
