You say potāto, I say potâto. They say accident, I say negligence. There are 4 safety rules and it’s not possible to shoot someone NEGLIGENTLY unless you break 2 of those rules.
1) Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
2) Never point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
Seems pretty clear to me. The man didn’t intend on doing anything, but I’m of the opinion that anybody has a negligent discharge have their permits/licenses suspended until such a time that they can successfully complete a firearm competency course (complete with safety rules!) This never should have happened.
